1B DEREK WATHAN hit safely in 10 straight games (16-43, 2 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 3 SB) August 18-27, raising his average from .287 to .296....

CAROLINA... RHP DONNIE BRIDGES threw seven scoreless innings and produced all the offense his club would need as the Mudcats blanked Huntsville, 2-0, August 21. Bridges improved his record to 10-1, allowing just two singles, fanning six and walking four to up his home record to 6-0 with a 1.52 ERA. The 24-year-old has won his last eight decisions while posting a 1.53 mark in those appearances. Bridges slapped a single up the middle to drive in the only two runs of the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning. In his next outing on August 26, he gave up five runs in four frames, taking his first loss since May 13...
