SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Alicia Ratay scored a career-high 32 points and Erika Haney added 18 and a career-best 14 rebounds as No. 8 Notre Dame ran past 12 North Carolina, 99-86, in the Wochovia Women's Invitational.
Ratay was 12-of-15 from the field, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range, as Notre Dame (3-1) shot a torrid 57 percent (36-of-63) from the field.
Niele Ivey scored 17 points for the Fighting Irish and set a tournament record with 13 assists.
LaQuanda Barksdale scored 18 points to pace five players in double figures for North Carolina (4-2), which could not overcome 38 percent (29-of-77) shooting. The Tar Heels trailed 42-39 at the half and were outscored 57-47 in the second half.
The defeat snapped a four-game winning streak for North Caroina, which suffered its first loss since falling at UCLA in the season opener.
The Tar Heels featured a balanced attack as Jackie Higgins, Jennifer Thomas and Cortney Chambers all scored 13 points. Nikki Teasley contributed 10.
