MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (Ticker) -- Jennifer Thomas and Nikki Teasley led a second-half surge that gave No. 11 North Carolina an 82-65 victory over Michigan State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Thomas and Teasley combined for 17 points in a 21-4 burst that turned a one-point deficit into a 71-55 lead with 5 1/2 minutes to play.
Thomas scored 10 of her 17 points in the run, including six in a row and the basket that capped it. Teasley scored seven of her 22 in the run, getting it going with a 3-pointer and jumper after a pair of baskets by Maxann Reese had given Michigan State a 51-50 lead with 12:01 remaining.
LaQuanda Barksdale scored all 16 of her points in the first half for North Carolina (8-2), which shot 51 percent (36-of-70) from the field and held Michigan State to 41 percent (26-of-64).
Becky Cummings scored 22 points and Reese added 19 and five steals for the Spartans, who held a 39-37 halftime lead.
