BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Marie Ferdinand scored 23 points as 17th-ranked Louisiana State held off a late rally and continued its December dominance with a 63-52 victory over Wake Forest.
April Brown, Katrina Hibbert and reserve Ke-Ke Taylor each added 10 points for the Tigers (9-1), who have won nine straight since a season-opening loss at Texas Tech. Since the 1995-96 season, LSU is 26-1 in December.
The Tigers had a commanding 59-31 lead, but Wake Forest (3-6) closed with a 21-4 spurt over the final 10 minutes to make it interesting.
Heather Miller scored 17 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting for the Demon Deacons, who completed a 1-2 road trip. Brenda Kirkpatrick added 12 points and eight rebounds but Wake Forest could not overcome 26 turnovers.
