NCAA Women's Tournament Recap (Cs Northridge-Colorado St)

FORT COLLINS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Becky Hammon scored 27 points and Katie Cronin added 19 as second seed Colorado State overcame poor shooting to rout Cal State Northridge, 71-51, in the first round of the West Region of the NCAA Women's Tournament.

Hammon, the three-time WAC Player of the Year, shot 4-of-13 from the floor but made 16-of-20 from the line for the Rams (32-2), who improved to 20-0 at home. They will remain at Moby Arena for the second round against Southwest Missouri State.

Cronin, who went 9-of-10 from the stripe, also grabbed nine rebounds for Colorado State, which shot 33 percent (19-of-56) from the field, including 5-for-16 from 3-point range.

Viveca Lof led Cal State Northridge (21-8) with 12 points off the bench and pulled down seven rebounds. Edniesha Curry was the only other Matador to score in double figures, chipping in with 11. Neda Milic collected eight rebounds to help Cal State Northridge win the battle of the boards, 41-37.

The Matadors shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the field and went to the line just 16 times, converting nine.
