1987 The Celtics fought off the young, upstart Detroit Pistons
in seven games to make their fourth straight trip to the
Finals, with plenty of help from the leprechauns at the
Boston Garden. In Game 5 Bird made his famous steal of
Isiah Thomas' inbounds pass
and found Dennis Johnson for the game-winning layup; in
Game 7 Detroit's Adrian Dantley and Vinnie Johnson butted
heads scrambling for a loose ball near the end of the third
quarter, sending Dantley to the hospital and Johnson to the
bench. |
