CNNSI.com's Division Preview: Central
The play of the Hawks' youngsters -- Dion Glover, DerMarr
Johnson, Roshown McLeod, Hanno Mottola and Jason Terry --
will determine the team's fate this season.
Without a superstar, Derrick Coleman, Jamal Mashburn, Elden
Campbell and P.J. Brown will have to be consistently solid for the
Hornets. Mashburn also has to hit big shots down the stretch.
One particular aspect head coach Tim Floyd needs to focus
on is offense. The Bulls averaged just 84.7 points per game
last season -- last in the NBA.
After sending Shawn Kemp to Portland, the Cavaliers are left
with Lamond Murray and Wesley Person as their top two
offensive options.
Detroit begins the season by playing six of its first seven
games
on the road, concluding in Indiana against the Pacers
on Nov. 11.
Jalen Rose and Austin Croshere were a big part of the Pacers'
success last season, but each faces different roles -- and
different expectations -- this year.
If the Bucks can play defense, and not let their egos get in
the way, they could play their way to a Central
Division title.
How will the Raptors respond to new head coach Lenny Wilkens
and the loss of Tracy McGrady's 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and
3.3 assists per game?
