he amateur's only rewardand his gift to the worldis simply the knowledge of excellence. Bobby Morrow is one of the rare ones who achievedand gavea little more: a distillation of excellence, in his case as pure and heady an essence as the Olympic Games have ever known.

Bobby Morrow became the first American man in twenty years to win two gold medals since Jesse Owens in Berlin. Morrow, who retired from competition in 1958, was later inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame.
