The one thing I'm absolutely obsessed with lately is ...
My cable TV. I just got it. [Laughs.] I just moved into my new apartment and it took me months to get all the stuff. Now I'm decorating my apartment . I'm really upset because all my favorite shows got canceled like Will and Grace, Sex and the City and Friends. So, I'm in the hunt for finding my next favorite show. I guess I like the Girls Next Door.
On a quiet, rainy day I usually ...
I usually watch movies. It depends on my mood, sometimes I like the chick flick, other times I want to laugh, be a kid, watch animation. I'm not a big scary-movie fan. The last scary movie I saw was in London, with my best friend. We saw The Grudge. It wasn't that scary, but we made it scarier together. In the movie theater we were at we couldn't pull up the arm rests so we were literally on top of them screaming, 'Oh my God! Oh my God!' We screamed so many times during the movie and everyone was like, 'Are you serious?' We didn't get out until midnight and I said I don't want to go all the way back home so I slept over at her place. I like Dirty Dancing, of course, what girl doesn't like that movie? I like Pretty Woman and Little Miss Sunshine.
If I were giving a tour of my home, the one place I wouldn't show anyone is ...
My refrigerator. There's nothing in there. I can't cook. I'm learning though; I can make a grilled cheese sandwich. I like to side that with some tomato soup. I tried the Campbell's because I really like tomato soup when I go out, but I did not like it! [Laughs.] That's my next challenge, to learn how to make tomato soup so the next time you come out I can make you a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup.
I feel a secret connection with ...
Justin Timberlake. I used to be a dancer, so I appreciate people who can dance. I don't have a connection with Usher, but I appreciate his performance.
In a past life I was ...
I think I was a lot of people, in a sense because I'm on my last life. I feel like I can adapt to things really easily and I have a lot of different traits. I'm creative in a sense, and I can be a very hard worker. I don't know if I was one thing in particular. Maybe I was a singer, a performer back in the day.
If I didn't have any responsibilities tomorrow morning, I would spend tonight ...
I would start it off with having dinner with my friend at her new apartment in Soho, a BBQ on the roof. Then I would go to a movie or just sit down and have a drink with you and then we could go to a lounge or club or something.
If I didn't have any responsibilities for a week, I would go to ...
I would sleep in a lot. It depends on the weather, if it was really nice I'd go to the farmer's market and I'd go to the park; try not to convince myself to buy a puppy, I really want one. I go to all the pet stores all the time and I say, 'I want this one and I want this one.' Then I fall in love with them even more and it feels worse when I walk away because I can't have one right now because I'm traveling all the time. You know what, I might try to go back home to Texas. I like going back there; it's more relaxing than anything else. It's very quite. You can just breathe. Here, there's always something to do, but there you get bored. You can slow down your life a bit.
If you asked my friends about me, the first thing they would tell you is ...
I have no idea what my best friend would say. A lot of people say I'm too nice. I think of other people before I think of myself, sometimes. Sometimes I can be a little bit selfish, but then I feel bad, and they tell me, 'That's the problem!'
The last thing I really splurged on was ...
Besides my rent [laughs] I went to the Bahamas for New Year's for a vacation. We stayed at a really nice place and didn't think about anything else and just had fun. I haven't really bought anything really expensive.
If I were going to a costume party tonight, I would dress as ...
Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Last Halloween I was an army person, a girl's version and I had bought these awesome red shoes that I was dying to wear, and I had them in my closet for ages before I finally wore them. I was trying to think of so many things to dress them up with, and I thought of Dorothy. That's what I'm going to be next Halloween. I'm already set.
When I get dressed to go to the grocery store, my clothing inspiration is ...
Pajamas, sweats. Well, I just go to my computer actually and do my grocery shopping online. Actually, I don't like it anymore. The first few times I did it, it was good but the last time I had to throw half of my food away because it was all bad. But before that, I would try to find a grocery store and I would just go in flip flops, sweatshirt and shorts, hair in a ponytail.
When I get dressed up for a party, my clothing inspiration is ...
The first inspiration is the weather. If it's warm weather, I like to wear cocktail dresses. If not, I would just wear jeans, heels and a cute top, something nice but not too over the top. I like Christina Aguilera's style right now but I can never pull it off so I just say congrats, do your thing girl, and I'll try to do mine.
One thing I do only when I'm home completely alone is ...
I turn the radio up and dance around and sing along to the radio. Anything that's upbeat. It could be the cheesiest song, like Britney Spears back in the day and I'll be like, "Yeah, I can rock to this." I'll dance around when I'm cleaning, it makes it more fun.
If I had to spend $1 million right now, I would ...
A million dollars in New York City is not that much [laughs]. Just kidding. I might buy an apartment, instead of renting, because I hate renting. I'd probably go shopping, buy a car or something. Some clothes and I'll probably still have money left over, so maybe invest it and give it to charity.
If I had to spend $10 right now, I would ...
Buy you a beer.
The sexiest I've ever felt was ...
There's this one dress that I like to wear, I don't know why I like it, it's kind of an awkward dress, but I always feel really sexy in it for some reason. One of my friend's friends made it and he gave it to me for free. It's made of T-shirt material and it's actually kind of is a T-shirt; it's really long like a dress and the bottom is tight so you can pull it up, scrunchy. It's short, but fitted at the bottom, and it hangs off the shoulder. It's grey; a grey that you can wear any colored shoes with it. I've worn it to the Gramercy and nice places but not a dive bar or something.
The one place I've seen that I'll never forget is ...
I went to Bora Bora once for a job, and that was really nice. There's a million places I would love to go. I had a cabana on the water and my coffee table was made of glass and you could slide it open and feed the fish. Also, you could go out on your deck and there was a little ladder to the water where you could snorkel around. I would also love to go to South America, not sure what part, I've never researched it, but maybe a rain forest, a beach, something nice and tropical.
I won't date a man if he ...
He's rude.
My favorite time to be naked is ...
When I'm in bed, sleeping. I like to be comfortable. I like to feel the sheets that I bought.
When it comes to nudity, most people don't know that I ...
I sleep in the nude.
When I open my eyes in the morning, the very first thing on my mind is ...
Breakfast. It depends on what I have in my fridge. I like eggs Benedict, but on a normal day I'll have cereal. I like the kiddy ones like Fruit Loops and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I'll have a kiddy one and then a healthy one, like with almonds and granola thing. I think that one is sealed shut. It's there to look good. Like I eat healthy.
My favorite thing to do in the comfort of my own room is ...
Turning up the radio to listen to music and singing along.
An athlete I have a secret crush on is ...
Steve Cronin, on the Los Angeles Galaxy. He's nice and I met him at the SI Launch party.
How about an entertainer?
Matthey McConaughey. He's just a guy. A lot of guys you meet here or in the industry are too fashiony. I just want a dude; the guy that'll mow the lawn and not hire someone to do it.
And name one surprise crush who most people wouldn't find particularly attractive.
I have a thing for old guys, not so much of a crush but I think they're cute. Anyone who looks like Yoda does it for me.
If I could be anything but a model, I would be ...
I'd probably be in school. I was going for fashion merchandising. I like fashion, obviously, or fashion design. I can sew. I don't do it much anymore. I actually have this teeny, tiny sewing machine, it's called the Traveling Sewing Machine, that I haven't used yet. I take it everywhere with me. It was actually on my Model Diary with the quilt thing I made.
If I could be anywhere else in the world right now, I would be ...
I wouldn't have gotten on a plane to come back here today! I'd still be in the Bahamas. Somewhere warm, maybe home in Katy, Texas, because I haven't been there for a while and I'm getting a little homesick.
In a group of people, I'm always the first to ...
I'm a very go-with-the-flow type of person. I might be the first one to suggest seeing a movie or going to a museum, something more low-key than partying. The partying scene is fun, but it gets old after a while because it's the same thing over and over.
The worst lie I ever told was ...
When I was little, my dad and I moved to this town because of his company, and it was right after my parents' divorce, I don't know if it was me going through a rough time, but I was really bad in school and my dad was really strict about studying. I would hide all my report cards, progress reports and all my bad test grades. I had a pile of all the tests in my closet and the teacher finally called my dad, because you have to get them signed. I'd be so afraid that I even tried to forge it one time, but I got caught. My dad asked me if I had forged it and I said, "No, I thought they wanted my signature." After that, my dad opened my closet and saw this pile of quizzes. And I was like, "Whoops. Yeah, I'm not doing so well in school by the way." This was in fifth grade.
To impress a cute man at a bar, I would ...
I would flirt. Hello? [Laughs.] I would try to be myself, and try not to say what I do at first. I try not to tell people I'm a model. They'll think you're either super rich or super easy or super something. I'm just a super dork. If it's a celebrity I try and act like I don't know who they are and say things like, 'What was your name again?' and 'What do you do again?'
The last time I saw a woman and thought "I wish I looked like her" was ...
Yeah, all the time. Usually, when I'm just looking at a magazine, it's a combination of her hairstyle and her clothes. I really like Jessica Biel, she's not super skinny like Nicole Richie or Paris Hilton. I don't like skinny chicks.
The one thing I'm superstitious about is ...
Not bringing my quilt pillow thing when I travel. I've forgotten it twice, and everytime something wrong happened, like I missed a flight or something like that. So I take it everywhere.
My personal hero is ...
My father because I respect him and look up to him greatly. He did a really good job of raising me by himself and doing the double duty of being mom and dad. He's still my best friend. What usually mothers and daughters have, I have with my father.
Do you have any sort of special connection with your hometown?
I don't really think I have a connection to it. I played sports for a while, volleyball in junior high school and a little bit in high school in Katy, Texas. I was never really into school activities. I got involved with the community my senior year, but didn't really make a deep impact. It's just home. I moved away from it for a few years, and I wanted to go back.
Where's the one place you have to go when you're in your hometown?
Los Cucos, a Mexican restaurant. It's so good. You've got to get the atomica hot sauce. The tortilla soup is really good, the enchiladas. Anything really, it's really sloppy because it's all mixed together. It's always my first and last meal when I leave. Also, you have to go to Midnight Video, it's this bar/club with a circular dance floor with a bar in the middle. There are four other bars around it, and there are full tables. They'll have hip hop, but then people will country dance. I don't even know how to line dance. I barely know how to do the Cotton-Eyed Joe. I'm always stumbling around saying, "How do you do that again?"
How do you feel about environmental issues such as global warming or pollution?
I think people need to know about and actually apply it to everyday life now. It's hard to change people's habits in terms of being aware, but I'm glad they're making buildings now that are green because with the rate that it's going, our children won't have the same thing that we have or our parents had.
