BIOGRAPHY: Three year starter who posted career numbers of 180/903/9 on the ground last season with 36/405/1 as a pass catcher. Junior totals included 164/823/8 on the ground and 35/406/2 catching the ball. Comes from a tough background and has had off the field problems in the past.

POSITIVES: Powerful, hard running interior ball carrier that showed steady improvement the past two years. Strong, gets a lot of momentum going up the field and a punishing runner who breaks several tackles during at single carry. Aggressive and lays his shoulders into defenders, falling forward when tackled to pick up the tough yardage. Pushes the pile and rarely brought down by the first defender. Keeps plays in bounds working to pick up positive yardage. Solid receiver out of backfield and makes the tough catch in a crowd.

NEGATIVES: Not an elusive runner who creates yardage. Does not show the playing speed to turn the corner.

ANALYSIS: Boyd is a hard running ball carrier with the size, strength and instincts to play at the next level. He has overcome a lot from his upbringing to get to the position where he presently sits and has a future at the next level. Ran faster than expected at the combine and could surprise in the NFL.
