Motor City Bowl

Mississippi 34, Marshall 31:

Freshman Deuce McAllister caught a touchdown pass and ran for the winning score with 31 seconds to play to cap a wild second half as Mississippi defeated Marshall, 34-31, in the inaugural Motor City Bowl at Pontiac, Michigan.

Recap  Game Summary

OK -- Moss set an NCAA record with 25 TD catches, he averages 18.3 yards per catch and 137.25 yards per game. But someone has to throw it to him. He's QB Chad Pennington (39 TDs, 12 INTs). Mississippi's two biggest threats are QB Stewart Patridge (almost 65 percent of his passes completed) and RB John Avery (5.2 yards per carry, 7 TDs, six 100-yard games).

This promises to be one of the more exciting bowls, with a high-scoring team (Marshall, 37.7 points per game) testing its mettle against a team that racked up more than 378 yards a game in the tough SEC. An interesting Mid-American vs. SEC matchup.

Moss has had more than 100 yards receiving in nine games this season.
