This showdown between the two undisputed kings of trash-talking and thuggery had purists lamenting that no matter who was crowned champion the sport would suffer a black eye. But at the end of a sublimely-played, hard-fought game, the only black eye was on the face of Miami quarterback Steve Walsh. He got it from hugging a teammate after he hooked up with Michael Irvin for the game-clinching touchdown. "I shouldn't go down there," Walsh said of the end-zone celebration. "I have to remain calm." In this instance his jocularity could be forgiven. The touchdown put Miami up 17-7 late in the third quarter. After the game, Irvin was asked if he felt like a villain, and his response reflected what the game had really been about. "I don't feel like a bad guy," he said. "I feel like a football player."
