CNNSI Host: Welcome to today's NFL Draft chat with Danny Farmer. Hi Danny. Thanks for joining us.
Danny Farmer: Thank you very much for having me.
From Patrick Barry: How would you feel being drafted by Chicago where you father played and Cade McNown is the QB?
Danny Farmer: Chicago is definitely a city that would interest me. I have a lot of ties back to the Chicago area - my father played there and Cade is there. It's a situation where I would feel comfortable. The offense there is on the rise with great coaches and definitely a high-powered offense. I could definitely see myself in that situation.
From Bruin alum in San Diego: Danny, where do you really want to end up?
Danny Farmer: Since you're from San Diego, I'll say there. *laugh* But seriously, I really want to get into a situation where I can help my team and contribute towards winning.
From Guest: I heard that you ran a 4.48 for the Redskins on Monday, why are people still doubting your speed?
Danny Farmer: That's a question that's very hard for me to answer. People really don't know a lot about me. I think that there's a perception that I am slow. To me that's the difficult part about this whole process.
From Curt Neth: Since you played volleyball for UCLA, do you ever think about playing professional beach volleyball AND football (two sport athlete)?
Danny Farmer: I've actually thought about it. But I don't think it will happen. I have a twin brother who will be playing professional volleyball on the beach, so I think my volleyball career lives on through him.
From Jon Harrington: Since you played at UCLA, how would you feel playing for a northern city that gets really cold like say Cleveland?
Danny Farmer: Obviously I'd like to stay in a warmer-weather city, but again, I have no choice and would be happy to play anywhere.
From Guest: Where and with whom will you be watching the draft?
Danny Farmer: I will be at my house in Los Angeles with some family and friends.
Michael Grafton: Do you think that it hurt your draft position because you decided to stay for your senior year? You had a stellar junior season, but played injured most of this year. If you had it to do over again, would you have came out last year?
Danny Farmer: I definitely would not have come out last year. I think the most important thing for me is that I am going to graduate from UCLA. I am now up for a post-graduate scholarship that I probably would not have gotten if I came out last year.
From Mark Berman: Which NFL receiver do you try to emulate your game after?
Danny Farmer: A lot of people assume that I am going to say Ed McCaffrey. But I model my game after Randy Moss. I think we have a lot of similarities and the only difference is the color of our skin.
From Guest: How would you like to go to the Vikings and play with Randy. That would be quite a corps?
Danny Farmer: That would be awesome. I would love to learn some things from Cris Carter and Randy Moss.
From Rick: I've seen a couple of draft previews showing the Colts drafting you in the second round. How would you like the thought of playing with the good young Colts and Peyton Manning?
Danny Farmer: I think that definitely that is a situation that I would love to play in. Having a younger team like that would definitely bring out a bright future.
From Guest: There are a lot of good wide receivers out there. What do you think you can bring to your new team?
Danny Farmer: First and foremost, size and speed. Those are two attributes that separate me from other receivers. Also, I think my experience at UCLA, which is a high-profile school, will benefit me.
From Guest: Danny, what was your favorite team while you were growing up?
Danny Farmer: I didn't really have a favorite team. I tended to root for the team that was the underdog. Not having a team in LA kind of determined that.
From Guest: Danny, after playing ball at UCLA, do you think that there is a fan base for the NFL in Los Angeles?
Danny Farmer: I definitely think so. There's a lot of people here that root for football.
From Guest: How is your ankle doing?
Danny Farmer: My ankle is feeling great.
From Brian Manfredonia: Danny, What do you think will be the toughest transition to make from the college game to the pros.
Danny Farmer: I think, if you look at the next level, the physical qualities of the players are much greater. Also, the speed of the game is much faster.
