TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson each rushed for a touchdown in the second quarter as the Denver Broncos overcame four turnovers en route to a 19-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

After the Broncos committed a pair of turnovers in the first quarter, Gary got Denver on the board with a three-yard TD run with 7:06 left in the opening half.

Former first-round pick Thomas Jones ran five yards for a touchdown with 2 1/2 minutes left before intermission to give the Cardinals a 10-7 lead.

But Anderson scored on a two-yard run with seven seconds left in the half, giving the Broncos the lead for good.

Vying for playing time in the backfield following the retirement of Terrell Davis, Gary carried 10 times for 27 yards. Anderson, who is being switched to fullback, gained 27 yards on seven attempts.

Second-round pick Clinton Portis, who has seen a majority of the playing time at running back for the Broncos, did not help his cause as he lost three fumbles. He finished with 62 yards on 11 carries.

Denver quarterback Brian Griese, who played into the third quarter, completed 22-of-32 passes for 227 yards.

Jake Plummer also played into the third quarter for the Cardinals and was 8-of-16 for 73 yards.
