Mickelson defeats Nicklaus in playoff at BellSouth
Phil Mickelson has had perfect timing this year. First, he ended Tiger Woods’ win streak, and on Sunday he prevented the Nicklauses from becoming the fifth father-son combination to record PGA Tour wins. The left-hander defeated Jack’s son Gary on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff at the BellSouth Classic after rain forced the cancellation of the final round. It was Mickelson's second win of the year and the 15th of his career.
