    Blair pregnant; husband skater may retire

    NAGANO, Japan (CNN/SI) -- Five-time Olympic gold medalist Bonnie Blair is pregnant and husband David Cruikshank expects to follow her into retirement by the time the baby is born in July.

    The 29-year-old Cruikshank talked about retiring after finishing 21st in the first round of the 500 meters.

    Cruikshank made his first Olympic team in 1988, the year his wife-to-be captured the initial two medals of her brilliant career -- a gold and a bronze in Calgary. Blair added four more golds before retiring after the Lillehammer Games four years ago.

    Cruikshank's highest finish prior to Nagano was 19th in the 500 at the 1994 Lillehammer Games.
