Britain's Jackson sees Americans as main rivals
At 33 years old, Great Britain's Colin Jackson, the world-record holder in the 110-meter hurdles, will probably be competing in his last Olympics in Sydney. The Welshman aims to be in perfect shape for the Games, but admits that even if he is, it will be tough against a new generation of up and coming hurdlers. "Anier Garcia is great, terrific, running well indoors," Jackson said. "He's been world indoor champion. He's joint fasted in the world with a guy called Tony Dees, so yes he is going terrifically well right now. But I look to the Americans as my number one rivals. They are the ones who have gone under 13 seconds more than anyone else, apart from myself so I have got to look to them as my major rivals." Jackson, the current world champion, has been hampered by injury worries throughout his career, most notably to his hamstring. With Sydney likely to be the last Games of his career, the athlete will be hoping his fitness will carry him through as he aims to become part of Olympic history.
