Coralie Simmons was a two-time national player of the year at UCLA, helping the Bruins to three national women's water polo championships. Simmons is one of three UCLA players on the U.S. Olympic team as water polo makes its Olympic debut in Sydney. Simmons will check in with CNNSI.com while in Sydney.

What was your schedule like for getting from California to Sydney?

We left Los Alamitos (where we train) by shuttle and left LAX on a red eye to Sydney.

Is this your first trip to Australia?

Nope, I have been many times. Actually with training and tournaments I have been to Sydney a total of five times, and to Perth for the World Championships on the other side of this large island. I'm lucky, I know! I love it here.

What was the one thing you made sure you had room for in your suitcase (other than your suit, of course)?

My scooter, for sure. I had to bring my "Razor" with my teammate Ellen Estes. We are going to cruise after we are done competing. And of course my CDs, but unfortunately my player is out of commission so I am bummed.

What did you do on the flight over?

I mostly slept. I got lucky and got an entire row to myself. Needless to say the judo team was a little jealous. When I wasn't sleeping I was chasing the meal cart down and asking for the food I missed.

Will you be staying in the Athletes' Village?

Yes, my teammates and I share an eight bedroom house. Lots of fun.

Will you have any family members or friends with you during the Olympics?

Yes. My parents and my fiancé will be coming over for the Games. I am super excited.

What have you done since arriving in Sydney?

I have done the Village thing. I went and got a facial and some massages over the past few days. The food is insane, and I am in awe at the amount of food that is available. And of course, we have been preparing in the pool with our Game getting closer and closer.
