Sydney, Australia

What did you think of the outfits worn by the various countries in the Opening Ceremonies? Any you really liked? Disliked?

All of the uniforms were interesting. Maybe not what you would wear on a night on the town, but cool. Australia looked very comfortable. They had sneakers and skirts to their knees. I liked the Bahamas colors -- they were turquoise blue and it was pretty. The U.S. uniform was fun because everyone had to wear it. I liked our hats the most. Maurice Greene had his tilted to the side and it looked nice. It added some style to the uniform.

How did it feel to wear the outfit the USOC gave you?

It felt good to walk in the Opening Ceremony. I got such a good feeling when I walked in the Stadium and everyone was cheering USA, USA, USA.

Have you been able to do any shopping?

When we were training in Brisbane I bought a burgundy jean jacket and a black leather coat. Leather is really in style right now. I haven't seen one like this in the U.S. and it fits really well. It's small-fitting. A lot of the stores there are just like America. It's just so much cleaner.

Last night I went out with my friend Hillary -- my first time out of the Village. We went to the Coogi store. All my friends love Coogi at home. I finally got to their store. It's much more expensive in the U.S. They have some bright weird colored clothes in there. Very bright and loud. People on the East Coast -- New York -- like it a lot.

Sydney is like a cleaner New York. I can't get over how nice everyone is here. It's a lot like America. The younger people dress a bit faster over here. Tube tops and flared out pants.

I did a lot of window shopping last night, but I didn't buy anything. They had a lot of boutiques in this area in Sydney -- Hyde Park. Have there been any outfits that you've seen, either on a spectator or another athlete, that you particularly liked?

I have been in the Village mostly. In the Village everyone just wears their U.S. stuff, just chilling. Every country is different -- there are so many different colors and types of stuff. Jamaica wears green and black, Russia has on blue. Nobody really dresses up in the Village -- you can tell the Americans a mile away. I am sure when we go out we will see some clothes. I have a week and a half before I run so I am sure I will go out again.

What are some plans you have to do in Sydney outside of training and competing?

Everybody is talking about going to the beach. But it's not hot yet and I don't like to be cold at the beach. I went to the Russian-Cuba women's volleyball match yesterday. Russia won. It was fun and very interesting. They were diving all over the place. It's fun to go when you are with a bunch of people. I went with my friend Hillary who won a trip over here. I also went to see China and the U.S. play in women's basketball. The women's basketball team stopped by the Village to see everyone. That was fun.

What's the hightlight so far?

Meeting Muhammed Ali! He came into the Village to see the athletes and I got a picture with him. He also kissed me on the trip. It was nice seeing him. What a thrill to meet someone who has made such an impact on so many lives.

How's practice going?

Yesterday Passion Richardson, Shakedia Jones, Andrea Anderson and I ran the B 4x100m relay against Christy Gaines, Nancee Perry, Torry Edwards and Marion Jones. My leg was against Nancee Perry. It was very easy and laid back. I like Marion Jones. She is nice. She does what she has to do and speaks to everyone.
