Meola leads Kansas City over Chicago for MLS title
In a classic contest of great offense and great defense, Kansas City's golden goalkeeper Tony Meola helped his team prove their end of the argument. Meola, the first-ever player to be MVP of the league and its championship game, was in his usual shutout mode as the Wizards beat the Chicago Fire 1-0 to capture their first ever MLS Cup title. Following the game, however, three key members of the championship team announced their retirement.
