Top-seeded Vinci rolls in Monterrey opener |


MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) -- Top-seeded Roberta Vinci of Italy reached the second round of the Monterrey Open on Monday with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Coco Vandeweghe of the United States.
In other first-round matches, Nina Bratchikova of Russia beat compatriot Anastasia Pivovarova 6-3, 6-1, and Alexandra Cadantu of Romania defeated Jelena Dokic of Australia 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Unlike most events played in Latin America, the Monterrey Open is played on hardcourts instead of clay.
